Raw Story: In an interview aired Wednesday, former Fox News conspiracy host Glenn Beck seemed to talk National Rifle Association board member Ted Nugent down from staging some kind of armed revolt against the government, urging that the Waco cultists were “really nice guys,” but “you want your day in court.”
First of all Ted Nugent is such an anti-American scumbag it's not even funny. It really says something about the party that he's a hero in GOP land. Second of all, yeah the Waco cultists were nice guys... if you like child rapists. And there does seem to be a very high incidence of child molestation/child rape in conservative circles. We figure it's the repressive nature of the fake morality in the movement. It makes people hide and suppress their normal adult urges until they explode in fits of criminal perversion, all too often with a child.

Deadly Treason
Dick Durbin (D-IL) in response to the Republican suggestion Benghazi was the worst disaster since 9/11:
[I have] five words for [critics] to reflect on: Iraqi weapons on mass destruction. We were told by every level of government here that there were Iraqi weapons of mass destruction that justified a war. The invasion of the united states. We are still searching for those weapons. They didn't exist. Thousands of Americans lost their lives. We could have a hearing on that if you like.And we should have pushed for prosecution of the entire GOP leadership at the time. (CNN) -- The National Rifle Association chief issued a blistering retort to President Barack Obama's inaugural address, accusing him of name calling and limiting American freedoms.

We have a right not to get shot in the face because the NRA and their Republican whores in government constantly make sure the gun industry can make maximum profit by selling munitions of war to every psychopath who wants them. We have a right to send out children to school and not have them come home in a body bag. We have a right to not live in fear of people settling arguments with deadly force. Anybody who abridges these rights is a clear and present danger and an argument could be made for preventative action to stop them. The NRA and the gun industry will do whatever they need to do sell more munitions of war. The Republican party we can do something about.

Think Progress: A freshman Republican congressman is arguing that the 2nd Amendment could be interpreted broadly enough to allow ordinary citizens access to the same equipment that the military uses. Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL), who unseated longtime Rep. Cliff Stearns last year thanks in large part to Tea Party support, sat down with Florida political blog The Shark Tank over the weekend to discuss gun violence. The freshman GOPer said he’d spoken with a number of constituents recently and approvingly relayed their sentiment: “when you read the Second Amendment,” Yoho said, “the militia had the same equipment as the military to protect them against the tyrannical government.” Preserving those protections, he argued, is “more important today than ever”:

Think Progress: The head of the Mon Valley Republican Committee in Pennsylvania is facing backlash from his local community after displaying an American flag upside down — a statement usually meant as a distress signal by soldiers in times of war — during President Obama’s second inauguration ceremony. The flag was placed outside the Mon Valley Republican Party’s meeting spot on the main road in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
Brent Kovac, the head of the local Republican chapter, spoke to local TV news station WPXI: Channel 11′s Julie Fine talked to the man behind the flag. He said that he doesn’t “regret it at all” because “our nation is in a horrible place.”Yes Obama's speech was heavy on things like equality, voting rights, and equal opportunity, things Republicans don't like and actively work against. But usually when a Republican wants to express his displeasure with the American ideal he or she flies the Confederate flag. We're not sure if this is better or worse than that, but the fact of the matter is the more Republican somebody is the more hostility they tend to show toward the United States and the more they seem to wish the Confederacy had won the civil war. It's really quite dangerous to let them serve in government.

Raw Story: After its general election battering, the Republican party has retreated to lick its wounds and ponder what went wrong – on the leafy grounds of a luxury golf resort in Virginia.
And what better place for today’s GOP to hold strategy sessions titled “Successful communication with minorities and women” than on the grounds of a former plantation in the south?
This of course makes perfect sense. Conservatives are called conservatives because they seek to conserve a socioeconomic order that has rich, white men on top. To further that goal they fought to keep slaves back then, and they fight to have wage slaves today. It's entirely appropriate for them to hold this event on a former slave plantation. It's what they're all about.

It can't be done. But one thing that would settle this gun controversy for good would be if the police published the real images from those classrooms at Sandy Hook. The crime scene photos or, even worse, panoramic video. Two classrooms filled with little kids' jaws and eyeballs and brains and guts, surrounded by all the things that first-graders bring to school and work on in class. We could play it in an endless loop on CNN, just like the second plane into the Twin Towers from 9/11. Yeah, it would traumatize the shit out of everyone. The whole nation would never stop throwing up and seeking counseling. But, that's the point. If people would face up to the reality of what happened, there would be no debate at all. Certainly not this:

Shoot Self Rule In The Face
Think Progress: While the National Rife Association has remained silent about Friday’s tragic shooting in Newtown, CT, Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America, is arguing that Americans should bear arms to protect themselves against an ever-expanding government and elected officials.
That's right America, according to the right-wing our government by the people is an evil which will require murdering the people who serve in it. Look, it's long past time to evaluate whether or not to elect these people to serve in a government they hate. We need to start looking at detaining them and then after a fair hearing to determine if they really feel this way, removing them from the country. By their own words they're a clear and present danger.

All Part Of The Plan
Politico via Huffington Post: House Republicans are seriously entertaining dramatic steps, including default or shutting down the government, to force President Barack Obama to finally cut spending by the end of March.
Neither shutting down the government or defaulting on the debt would turn out good for the country. Neither would the GOP's stated goal of killing Medicare and Social Security. In fact, there's not a single piece of identifiable GOP public policy that has turned out good for the country. There's a simple reason for this: Republican public policy isn't designed to turn out good for the country. These people run for office to implement policy that turns out good for themselves their monied constituencies and nearly always at the expense of the country. The sooner we loose this pretense that the GOP wants America to do well, the sooner we can go about the business of making sure they don't get to make policy.

First sentence: We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Republicans only promote the general welfare of themselves and their corporate backers and at the expense of the citizens of this country. They don't believe in government of the people, by the people, and for the people and therefore it's beyond dangerous to let them participate in it.

RADEL: Yes, I will. This is the national flood insurance program, it is something promised by the federal government and we need to release those funds to the people that are suffering in the northeast. … But ultimately, what we need to be doing, at the federal level, is weaning people off the federal government and allowing this not to just be left up to the states, but ultimately up to the private sector.
HOST: So you want to pass FEMA off to the private sector? You don’t think the government should be involved in federal relief at all?
RADEL: It should in some areas, but this is a case of insurance, just like in Florida, where you even have state-run programs that are out of control such as citizens where again, I’m sure you’ve covered many times, it ends up where middle class families end up paying for insurance for multimillionaires to have their homes on the beaches. It’s just not fair. We need to allow it to be in the private sector.See, this is why Republicans should be disqualified from serving in government. They view it only as a means to get rich or get profit for their supporters in big business. They literally want to leave you on your own and at the mercy of for-profit corporations when you've just lost your house and everything you own.

“If Republicans want to have a conversation about cuts, we should have a conversation about cuts,” Ellison, a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, told host Cenk Uygur. “Let’s start with Medicare Part D and say, ‘If you want to save money, you want to cut the deficit, let’s let there be competitive bidding for Medicare Part D prescription drugs. That would save about $150 billion.”
It is of course an excellent point. While we're at it we can discontinue subsidies to big oil and those massive payouts to the GOP crony war profiteers. But this Medicare Part D thing is particularly instructive in highlighting the massive cesspool of corruption that is the Republican party. There's no reason the government shouldn't be able to negotiate better prices for high volume purchases just as a private party would. That the GOP specifically banned it is one of the clearest examples yet of the party picking the pocket of the taxpayer to pay their crony political supporters, this time in big pharma. Republicans literally get elected so they can rob you.
