Not In China

WASHINGTON – The Republican budget proposal to sharply cut federal spending would cost 700,000 jobs through 2012, according to the independent analyst Moody's. In a new report obtained Monday by the Washington Post, Moody's Analytics chief economist Mark Zandi analyzes the House Republican budget proposal cutting spending by $61 billion this year and projects that it will curtail job growth.

Well, here anyway. Republicans are actually pretty good for job growth in China and India.

War Criminals

WASHINGTON – Lawrence Wilkerson, Colin Powell's ex-chief of staff said Thursday the former Secretary of State was lied to and manipulated by Vice President Dick Cheney into justifying the US invasion of Iraq. The primary justifications offered by the Bush administration for invading Iraq were that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction and had possible links to Al-Qaeda. Both turned out to be false.

Cheney was also hanging out at the CIA and putting heavy pressure on them to give him what he wanted. And when all that wasn't enough they opened up their own intel shop to better cook the books. There's no way to escape the conclusion that this crew deliberately lied this nation into war. And if they're not held to account there will be no deterrent against others doing the same thing in the future.

Not Sure They've Thought That Through

Earlier this week, State Rep. Phil Jensen (R-SD) introduced the bill, which would have added language to current South Dakota law specifying that, in some circumstances, killing someone in defense of an unborn child is "justifiable homicide." Currently, the law allows for murder as self-defense, or in defense of someone whose life appears to be in danger.

This seems to be some kind of Bush Doctrine on behalf of a fetus. But if this principal can be applied to a fetus, it could certainly also be used to justify murder to protect the life of a doctor that performs abortions. In other words, if somebody was putting doctors that perform abortions under threat by let's say proposing a law that could get them killed, by this principal it would be "justifiable homicide" to murder them.
