Since individual vote fraud is simply not a problem in this country, it's clear the Republican party is just using these voter ID laws to suppress the poor and minority vote. And they're perpetrating this crime against democracy all over the country. Since they're deliberately trying to disenfranchise our poor and minority citizens it, if prison is not an option, it would be justice enough if our citizens voted them out so they can't pass their racist, anti-democratic laws.
This blog exists to provide Democrats with clear, hard, concise branding of the political opposition. We invite you to use our messaging in your advertising, at the water cooler, in the press release, at the lectern, or just to shut up the father-in-law at Thanksgiving (especially to shut up the father-in-law at Thanksgiving). If you like it use it, and please, share it. Be brave. Be hard. Fight like your democracy depends on it America, because you can bet your ass it does.

The Vote Suppressors
Raw Story: Larry Butler told SC Progressive Network that South Carolina’s new voter photo ID law will prevent him from voting. The state won’t issue him a driver’s license because he can’t produce the necessary documentation. Butler does not have a birth certificate because he was not born in a hospital and the elementary school he attended burnt down many years ago so the required records are not available.

dude. you rock.
ReplyDeleteYou sort of touch on a point I've been thinking about. Why isn't it a crime? Certainly deliberately preventing eligible voters from voting is a crime. They say these laws are to prevent voter fraud. But millions of dollars and years of investigations have found almost zero voter fraud. Therefore their motivation must be to disenfranchise eligible voters. So we have motive. Don't we have a crime?
ReplyDeleteHi Harry,
ReplyDeleteYou would think so. There is the voting rights act.
As Daniel Elsberg notes today on Raw Story, Nixons crimes would be legal today. Sad but true.
