Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is trying to neutralize President Barack Obama’s achievement of killing terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden by insisting that it’s something that even liberal Democratic President Jimmy Carter would have done.

Romney's implication that any president would have made the call Obama did is ridiculous.  The last Republican president didn't make that call.  And Romney himself said he wouldn't take the risk. Of course one wouldn't expect a man who dodged the draft and let other Americans go to Vietnam in his place while he ran off to Paris to have the courage to make that call anyway. 

As for Obama, well, he did get Bin Ladin, and no amount of chickenshit revisionist history will ever change that.  As for what it says about Obama, we'll defer to the Republican Secretary of Defense at the time, a man that served Republican presidents all the way back to Nixon: "I worked for a lot of these guys. And this is one of the most courageous calls – decisions — that I think I’ve ever seen a president make.” - Robert Gates.

And last, the implication that liberal Democratic Presidents (even ones who actually served in the military as Carter did) are somehow less on such matters is despicable and begs the harshest response.  So here it is: Bush and Cheney lied and cheated this country into a devastating and counter productive war and 9 year occupation in Iraq that got 40,000 Americans dead or maimed, cost several trillion dollars and only ended up handing Iraq and the worlds second largest oil reserves to Iran on a silver platter.  For that they're war criminals and traitors.  There's nothing worse.  And to this day Romney cheers them and what they did.  This alone makes him unfit to be president.

First, as we always have to do with Willard Romney, we need to set the record straight.  He's lying again.  Not only was it not his idea, but at the time he ripped Obama for doing it. GM had one foot in the door of liquidation and Romney said, and this is a direct quote, "let Detroit go bankrupt."   And now that Obama's fix has turned out to be a spectacular success and GM is posting record profits, Willard's trying to escape history's judgement.

Second, it was Romney's Republican party policy that caused the financial meltdown in the first place and the fact he's trying to subject the country to the same thing again borders on treason.

And last, Romney's views and policies don't always turn out to be wrong for the country because he has bad judgement.  He's a smart guy.  Romney's views and policies always turn out bad for the country because he doesn't act in the best interest of the country.  He acts in the best interest of the transnational CEO and the Chinese factory owner.  He's spent the last 30 years bankrupting American companies, destroying American jobs and screwing American workers out of their pensions.  We don't need somebody like that to be president.

Michael Wiener, a GOP county commissioner in New Mexico, is being asked to resign after a picture of him posing with scantily clad women in a well-known red light district in the Philippines surfaced earlier this week.

How Dare You Fix Our Mess

Think Progresss:  Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney campaigned with Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R), who presides over one of the least job-creating states in America, today at Otterbein College — a school that benefited from the passage of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, commonly known as the stimulus.  Otterbein received a grant worth more than $80,000 for a federal work-study program in July 2009. Ignoring that fact, though, Romney proceeded to attack the stimulus in his speech to students

The last time the Republicans were in charge they collapsed the economy and left us in complete economic and fiscal meltdown.  We know this because we all lived it.  When Obama took over we were losing nearly 800,000 jobs a month, the DOW had crashed all the way down to 7000 and we were all watching the news to see when we were going to have to run down to the bank to pound on the glass to try and get our money out before the entire system collapsed.  That they would stand up today and criticize one of the things that saved us from the corrupt, failed, national disaster that is their public policy, is not only a low character thing to do, but given the fact they're still promoting the same America killing public policy that caused the meltdown in the first place, a reminder of how dangerous it is to let them rule.  Let them back into power and it will happen again.  It's Einstein's definition of Insanity to expect otherwise

Down With Democracy

PORTLAND, Maine -- Maine's blunt-speaking (Republican) governor is again creating a ruckus with his offhanded remarks – this time by calling state government middle managers "about as corrupt as can be."

This is just more Republicans demonizing government by the people in order to replace our democracy with a corporatist, fascist oligarchy.  They're trying to replace self rule with corporate rule.

Clearly Hiding Something

Think Progress:  As he released six years’ worth of tax returns today, Sen. Scott Brown’s (R-MA) campaign predictably launched an attack on his Democratic opponent, Elizabeth Warren, for not being as forthright, saying in a press release that she is “clearly hiding something”:

“By refusing to release her tax returns for 2006 and 2007, she is clearly hiding something. What is in her tax returns during these years that Warren is so afraid voters might learn? In the interest of openness and transparency, Professor Warren has an obligation to release the same information that Scott Brown is making available.”

And Mitt Romney has an obligation to release his.  We're glad some Republicans are finally admitting Romney is "clearly hiding something" but we would rather just see his returns. 

Threat Level Blood Red

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who lost the 2008 presidential election to Barack Obama, harshly criticized him for politicizing the death of Osama Bin Ladin which he called the "height of hypocrisy."

We understand it upsets Republicans to no end that it was Obama that got Bin Ladin.  But Obama's barely said a word about it.  Unlike Bush who politicized this stuff to no end.  The guy flew to an aircraft carrier in a codpiece and made a speech in front of a banner that read "mission accomplished" (and Bin Ladin wasn't even dead yet!) and not McCain or any other Republican did anything but cheer.  What a bunch of dishonest, low character, scumbags they are to criticize Obama now.

Daily Kos: Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act passed the Senate by a bipartisan vote of 68 to 31.

Not really bipartisan.  All 31 no votes were Republican men.

The Country Be Damned

Think Progress: At a debate over the weekend, Missouri Rep. Todd Akin (R), who is running for Senate, said involving the government in the student loan process has given the government a “stage three cancer of socialism”:

AKIN: America has got the equivalent of the stage three cancer of socialism because the federal government is tampering in all kinds of stuff it has no business tampering in. So first, to answer your question precisely, what the Democrats get rid of the private student loans and take it all over by the government was wrong, it was a lousy bill, and that’s why I voted no. The government needs to get its nose out of the education business.

To borrow a term from Thom Hartmann, education is intellectual infrastructure.  It's an investment in the future of the country.  That Republicans want to turn it into a for profit business for their cronies tells us all we need to know about their love of country. 

There is a cancer in this country but it's not federal support for education, it's the Republican party.  They're quite literally killing our future.

Fake As They Come

Obama on Romney:  "I don't think that their nominee is going to be able to suddenly say, 'Everything I've said for the last six months, I didn't mean.' I'm assuming that he meant it. When you're running for president, people are paying attention to what you're saying."

It's even worse than that.  Everything Romney has said for the last six months is exactly opposite of what he said when he ran for governor of  Massachusetts.  And now he's going to say the opposite yet again.  This guy flip flops like a dying fish on the deck of one of his yachts.  He can't be trusted to mean anything that comes out of his mouth.  So we ask again, if you like Mitt Romney, how do you know?

Huffington Post:  Rick Scott (R) shocked the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence this week when he vetoed $1.5 million in funding for 30 rape crisis centers in the middle of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. State lawmakers allotted the money to offset an increase in need and a lack of sufficient funding for victim services. 

Yep, better to have more tax cuts for billionaires than provide services to our citizens who have been raped.  The GOP war on women (and everybody else who is not a rich, Christian, white guy) rolls on.

Think Progress:  During an interview last week on The Fernando Espuelas Show, Alexandra Franceschi, Specialty Media Press Secretary of the Republican National Committee, said that the Republican party’s economic platform in 2012 is going to be the same as it was during the Bush years, “just updated”:

ESPUELAS: What do you mean by economic security? Regardless of who the ultimate nominee is, what’s the general idea that the RNC, or the Republican party in general, has in terms of this message?
FRANCESCHI: Well, it’s a message of being able to attain the American dream. It’s less government spending, which a Tarrance Group poll, came out last week actually, shows that the majority of Hispanics believe that less government spending is the way out of this deficit crisis. It’s lowering taxes so small businesses can grow and they can employ more people, because we understand that the private sector is the engine of the economy. It’s not the government. [...]
ESPUELAS: Now, how different is that concept from what were the policies of the Bush administration? And the reason I ask that is because there’s some analysis now that is being published talking about the Bush years being the slowest period of job creation since those statistics were created. Is this a different program or is this that program just updated?
FRANCESCHI: I think it’s that program, just updated.

As Think Progress notes, during the Bush administration, “growth in investment, GDP, and employment all posted their worst performance of any post-war expansion,” while “overall monthly job growth was the worst of any cycle since at least February 1945, and household income growth was negative for the first cycle since tracking began in 1967.” Meanwhile, the deficit and debt exploded. 

And the Republicans want to bring all that back. It's time to start asking who's side Republicans are on.  Because really, pushing policy that been proven by history to disastrous for the country strongly indicates it's not ours.  They're for transnational CEO's and Chinese factory owners, but their behavior is clearly anti-American.

Raw Story:  Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio on Sunday refused to explain how a potential Romney administration would be different from George W. Bush’s administration, but insisted that the last Republican president “did a fantastic job” and his brother, former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL), would be a “fantastic vice president.”

If you consider - allowing 9/11 to happen, lying and cheating to bring this country into a devastating and counter productive war and occupation in Iraq, deliberately betraying the CIA spy network that tracked nuclear material to terrorists, ecouraging outsourcing, filling our oceans with oil, and leaving our economy in absolute meltdown - doing a fantastic job, you and your political party are a clear and present danger to the country.  Suggesting we return to the public policy that caused all that borders on treason.

Negros

Ann Coulter says that gun control laws are inherently racist and that the solution to incidents like the shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin is more "negros with guns."

On Tuesday, Coulter used Martin’s shooting to argue against gun control laws and said that every African American should arm themselves against the “Democratic Ku Klux Klan.”

The KKK used to be Democratic.  Of course that was before the Republican party used the self described Southern Strategy to suck the racists out of the Democratic party and with them built their base. To this day the GOP has its political and philosophical power base in the confederate south, and to this day that base prefers the confederate flag to the American flag.  And as if we needed confirmation of history's judgement, Coulter offers up her description of African Americans as 'negros' to help us out.

Bet Fixing

The take away from this is not necessarily that Willard was born Richy Rich and used that money to start a firm that made millions by bankrupting American companies, destroying American jobs and screwing American workers out of their pensions, but that in having his money in Switzerland and in Swiss Francs he was betting against the US dollar, US banks, and the US economy. At the time it was Republican party public policy that was in effect. So he was betting against the same policy he's trying to institute now.

Which means it's highly likely that foreign interests are secretly buying our democracy (ain't Citizens United grand?).  And since Republican party public policy favors transnational CEO's and Chinese factory owners over American workers, they're getting what they paid for.  This is what you get when you vote Republican.

Pathological

Daily Kos: So Mitt Romney visits an shuttered factory in Ohio and opines:

“Had the president’s economic plans worked ... it would be open by now, but it’s still empty,” Romney said. “It underscores the failure of this president’s policies with regards to getting this economy going again. The other day, the president was in Ohio, and he said that this campaign was going to come down to his vision. His vision for America. If you want to know where his vision leads, open your eyes, because we’ve been living it for the last three years.”

The factory, however, was shut down during the Bush administration, in June 2008. Yet nonetheless, Mitt Romney's campaign blames President Obama:

“The fact that it struggled through the last three years is not the fault of Barack Obama’s predecessor, it’s the fault of this administration and the failure of their policies to really get this economy going again,” said Eric Fehrnstrom, a Romney aide.

What a load of bullshit. When President Bush took office, there were 17.1 million manufacturing jobs in the country. By the end of his term, there were 12.5 million—and falling fast. We still haven't recovered to that level, but over the past two years, America has gained 500,000 manufacturing jobs. Compare that with the 1.5 million lost in Bush's last two years in office. 

When Obama took over  we were losing 800,000 jobs a month, the dow had crashed to 7000 and we were all watching the news to see when we were going to have to run down to the bank and pound on the glass to try and get our money out before the entire system collapsed. Obama turned that around, we've gained jobs for 23 straight months, the dow is over 13,000 and the system is stable.  That Republicans want to bring back the public policy that caused that mess borders on treason.  That they're trying to blame Obama for it means they're pathological liars. And that they're trying to do so at a factory that was closed during the Bush administration shows just what scumbags they really are.

Polygamy

Huffington Post:  Mitt Romney responded on Friday to Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer’s (D) suggestion that he'd hit bumps in the road in appealing to the national electorate because his father was "born on a polygamy commune in Mexico."

His response is that his father was not a polygamist.  Which strongly suggests that his father was indeed born on a polygamy commune in Mexico. If he wasn't, Willard would have said so.  But whether or not his father was born on a polygamy commune in Mexico, Romney is a hard core Mormon (he's given them millions), and Mormonism had to be dragged kicking and screaming away from Polygamy and a bunch of other far more disturbing beliefs and practices..  So given the news Bain Capital discriminates against non-Mormons, and the fact we absolutely can't have this kind of behavior in our government, it's time to take a closer look at Willard Romney and his religion.

The GOP's Jewish Problem

Think Progress: A few weeks ago, the House GOP was up in arms over House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s (R-VA) $25,000 donation to anti-incumbent candidate Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), who ultimately defeated his opponent, incumbent Rep. Don Manzullo (R-IL). But the story got a little more fraught when it turned out that Manzullo once said Cantor would not be “saved” because he is Jewish. 

Today, Cantor, the only Jewish House Republican, nearly affirmed that this was the reason he fought against Manzullo’s re-election, insinuating that anti-Semitism — and racism — are lingering problems among the House GOP generally. He speaking at a breakfast event organized by Politico.

Calling it the “darker side,” Cantor responded to Politico’s Mike Allen’s question of whether there is anti-semitism in Congress by trying to avoid commenting. But eventually he let up: “I think that all of us know that in this country, we’ve not always gotten it right in terms of racial matters, religious matters, whatever. We continue to strive to provide equal treatment to everybody.” 

“We’re talking about the House Republican Caucus, not America,” Allen pushed. 

Cantor then sat in silence, grimmacing for several seconds before Allen changed the topic.

Why any Jews vote GOP is beyond us. Who would vote for people who believe you deserve hell? It makes no sense whatsoever. Of course it also makes no sense for blacks, Latinos, or Muslims to vote Republican either. And when you add in poor people, old people, and women, what you have left is rich, which, evangelical Christian men. They're the only people who should logically vote GOP. Everybody else would be voting against themselves.

Mission Accomplished

Think Progress: Republican Jesse Kelly, a construction manager and Tea Party favorite, won the Republican nomination primary last night to fill the seat left vacant by the resignation of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ). Kelly will face former Giffords district manager Ron Barber in the June 12th special election. Kelly, in his unsuccessful 2010 bid for the same seat, infamously hosted an M16 automatic weapons shooting campaign event to help supporters “get on target” to “help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office.”

Which is pretty much exactly what happened. The people who encourage crazies to commit acts of violence should be held responsible when they do.

Actually you're promoting a political party that deliberately built its base with racists, and makes common cause with Nazis. You also love the confederate flag and like to use the word nigger a lot. But whatever....

When Religion Becomes a Problem

Former executives from Bain Capital, a company founded by presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, have been accused of firing six out of seven members of a management team for not belonging to the Mormon church.

It's time to take a closer look at Willard Romney and his religion. It's illegal for companies to behave this way, but if some do it's not fatal. When the government behaves this way, democracy is dead.

The Most Courageous EVER

Ok first, Obama took over from a Republican era of public policy with the country in absolute economic and fiscal meltdown. Obama turned that around. The system is stable and we've added jobs for 23 straight months. So he absolutely can run on his economic record. On top of that, anybody trying to bring back the public policy that caused that mess is a traitor.

As far as the courage part, we'll defer to Robert Gates, the former Republican Secretary of Defense commenting on Obama getting Bin Ladin: "I worked for a lot of these guys. And this is one of the most courageous calls – decisions — that I think I’ve ever seen a president make."

Huffington Post: Ted Nugent stood by his controversial comments about President Barack Obama and Democrats made over the weekend, telling conservative radio host Dana Loesch on Tuesday that he had been unfairly targeted for saying he would "either be dead or in jail" by next year if Obama is reelected.

Ted Nugent cheated his way out of Vietnam by not bathing for a month while wearing the same clothes and urinating and defecating on himself before he went to the draft office. While other Americans did their duty, this coward lied and cheated in the most disgusting way to get out of it and let other Americans go in his place. He's also proudly pro-cruelty to animals and a hard core racist. We're happy for this scumbag to speak on behalf of and be embraced by the Republican party. They're a good match.

Liar Liar

ROMNEY LIES: Claims John Kerry Released 2 Years Of Tax Returns But Kerry Actually Released 20

This guy lies like nobody's business. Hell, his first ad tried to quote Obama saying if we talk about the economy we're going to lose when Obama was actually quoting John McCain. And they knew it. But still they tried to lie to the American people. Does anybody really want such a profound liar to be president of the United States?

This particular lie is furthering Romney's efforts to hide his tax returns. No doubt because they will show he's stashing cash overseas, paying a pittance in taxes and betting against the public policy he would institute if he became president.

Ann Romney Has No Dignity

Huffington Post: Recalling his effort as governor to increase the amount of time women on welfare in Massachusetts were required to work, Romney noted that some had considered his proposal "heartless," but he argued that the women would be better off having "the dignity of work" -- a suggestion Ann Romney would likely take issue with.

We can't wait for Willard to explain that now that the Republicans and their corporate media have run Hillary Rosen out of town. Let's be clear, Mitt Romney said that poor mothers who don't have a job not only don't work, but have no dignity. What a prick.

This episode is also an indictment of the corporate media. Even though what Romney said translates far more directly to the notion that raising kids isn't work, and is a far more offensive statement toward mothers in general, you didn't hear a word about it. But when an obscure Democratic consultant says Ann Romney has never had to earn money, it was turned into something it wasn't and catapulted to the lead story for days. The corporate media is in the bag for Republicans and has been since they almost ran Bill Clinton out of town for everything from a legal land deal where the Clinton's lost money to a carefully worded truism about a consensual affair.

Why, did he lie us into a devastating and counter productive war? Did he crash the economy and end his term losing nearly a million jobs a month? Did he make the entire world hate our guts? Is he trying to shred our constitution? Are his buddies in big oil using deregulation to skimp on safety and fill our ocean with oil? Did he appoint supreme court justices that decided to sell our democracy to the highest bidder? No, Dick, that's what you and your Republican party did. You must really hate America if you want us to go back to all that.

Ok To Pay Them Less

WASHINGON: -- Former Republican congressman Pete Hoekstra, who is now running to unseat Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), weighed in on the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act on Thursday, saying the law was a "nuisance" that shouldn't be in place ... The law -- which was heavily opposed by Republicans -- provides women with more legal channels through which to pursue equal pay for equal work.

Conservatives were against letting women vote (they still are, actually) and against the ERA. That they want to let women work, albeit for less pay, is progress we suppose.

If You Like Mitt Romney, How Do You Know?

This is the second time in the last few weeks that somebody close to Romney has made it very clear he's not to be trusted, even with something so basic as his convictions.

Huffington Post: Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen stirred controversy Wednesday evening when she criticized Ann Romney for having "never worked a day in her life."

So in Republican world Hilary Rosen is to be run out of town because she's a lesbian who's raising kids while having a successful career, and Ann Romney is a hero because she was able to stay at home and have her staff cook for her and her kids, clean up after her and her kids, and drive her and her kids around. Conservatives were against equal rights, against a woman's woman's right to vote and it seems are still hostile to women in the workplace.

And what Hilary Rosen said is correct, Ann Romney has never worked a day in her life because her husband was born rich and then made 250 million dollars by bankrupting American companies, destroying American jobs and screwing American workers out of their pensions. If anybody should be apologizing it's Mitt Romney... to America.

The take away from this is not necessarily that Willard was born Richy Rich and used that money to start a firm that made millions by bankrupting American companies, destroying American jobs and screwing American workers out of their pensions, but that in having money in Switzerland he was betting against the US dollar, US banks, and the US economy. At the time it was Republican party public policy that was in effect. So he was betting against the same policy he's trying to institute now.

Explains That

Should've Never Let Them Vote

Think Progress: The National Review’s John Derbyshire isn’t just an avowed racist and a homophobe. He’s also a misogynist. In 2009, he authored a book that contained a chapter titled “The Case Against Women’s Suffrage.” In it, he argued the country would be better off if women didn’t have the right to vote. He discussed his views in a Sept. 2009 interview with Alan Colmes:

DERBYSHIRE: Among the hopes that I do not realistically nurse is the hope that female suffrage will be repealed. But I’ll say this – if it were to be, I wouldn’t lose a minute’s sleep.

COLMES: We’d be a better country if women didn’t vote?

DERBYSHIRE: Probably. Don’t you think so?

COLMES: No, I do not think so whatsoever.

DERBYSHIRE: Come on Alan. Come clean here [laughing].

COLMES: We would be a better country? John Derbyshire making the statement, we would be a better country if women did not vote.

DERBYSHIRE: Yeah, probably.

Liberals freed the slaves, got women the right to vote, and fought for the worker rights and protections that created the great American middle class. And conservatives fought them every step of the way. These struggles continue today, still with progressives fighting the good fight against conservatives who obviously want a monstrously immoral social order long since left behind by history.

Morally Wrong

Paster Rick Warren of the evangelical Saddleback Church in Orange County, CA said that the country’s economic woes are due ultimately to a spiritual failure in an interview on ABC’s This Week Sunday.

If he means the favor the rich and the corporation tax policy, economic policy and deregulation
that caused the financial meltdown was morally wrong, he's right. But we don't think that's what
he means.

Ok But You're Not Supposed to SAY It...

The conservative magazine National Review fired columnist John Derbyshire Saturday evening for his controversial column in another publication urging white and Asian parents to tell their children to avoid contact with African-Americans they don’t know.

We're not sure why... It's how most conservatives really feel. The Republican party deliberately built its base with racists, makes common cause with Nazis, and has its political and philosophical power base in the confederate south. To this day and all around this country they prefer the confederate flag to the American flag. Specifically, regarding the Trayvon Martin murder (which no doubt prompted Derbyshire's column), Republicans want the media to shut up about it and armed neo-Nazis have begun patrols in Sanford. The militia movement is mostly white, mostly racist, and is a constituency of the Republican party. Conservatives have been working on behalf of the plantation owner since before this country was founded. The Republican party is a racist party. They should be allowed to say so without getting fired.

The Happiest Places On Earth

Denmark has taken the top spot spot on the United Nation's first ever World Happiness Report, followed by Finland, Norway and the Netherlands.

The US is 11th. Every country in front of us has significantly higher tax rates. Most of them are considered socialist by right-wingers in the US. Seems the "bigger the government, the smaller the citizen" crowd wants to grant us more freedom alright, more freedom to be ruled by the corporation and more freedom to be unhappy about it.

Raw Story: With little fanfare, union-busting Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) yesterday signed a repeal of Wisconsin’s equal pay act, which gave people who discover they’ve been discriminated against more time to file suit and the right to do so outside of federal courts.

The GOP war on women rolls on. The GOP is anti-women, anti-black, anti-poor, anti-middle class, anti-Semetic, anti-Islam, anti-immigrant, anti-science, hates the constitution, and can't stand democracy. Who votes for these people anyway? Besides the Koch Brothers and the country club crowd that is.

Attacking Women

Huffington Post: Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) spoke out forcefully in favor of reproductive rights on Wednesday in Homer, Alaska, as many in her party have sought to restrict them.

"It makes no sense to make this attack on women," she said at a local Chamber of Commerce luncheon, according to the Homer News. "If you don't feel this is an attack, you need to go home and talk to your wife and your daughters."

Aside from the fact Republican gatherings are apparently all men, we have nothing to add to that. Democrats should use these quotes at every opportunity.

Felony Election Fraud

Raw Story: Six fake Democrats running in upcoming recall primaries to push back the election date in Wisconsin are violating the law, according to an election attorney.

“Among the requirements for running as a candidate in a partisan primary, one is required to file with the [Government Accountability Board] a ‘Declaration of Candidacy,’ form GAB-162. That form specifically requires a candidate to state that their candidacy is ‘representing’ the political party for which the primary is to take place. This statement must be made under oath,” attorney Jeremy P. Levinson said in a memo (PDF) to We Are Wisconsin.

“Clearly, a candidate running in a Democratic primary for the purpose of disadvantaging that party and giving electoral advantage to the Republican Party and the Republican incumbent the Democrats seek to recall can do so only by falsifying his or her declaration of candidacy.”

The fake candidates are committing felony election fraud, according to Levinson, a crime punishable by up to three and half years in prison.

Republicans have been committing felony election fraud since they robbed a bunch of African Americans in Florida of their right to vote while stealing the election in 2000. Republican efforts to rob all manner of poor, elderly, and minority Americans of the right to vote are all crimes against democracy. They're about to disenfranchise 5 million more eligible voters. And in Michigan they've pretty much revoked democracy all together. They must be stopped. Our democracy depends on it.

Designed To Help Corporations

Citing conspiracy theories about “a one-world order,” the Arizona Tea Party is attempting to slip a bill through the legislature that could strip programs designed to help residents in the state become more energy efficient.

Ok putting aside the fact these Republicans are delusional and more than a couple noodles short of a full spaghetti dinner, they're against any effort to protect the environment and they carry water for dirty energy and industrial polluters. Everybody knows that. So basically they are willing to give your kid cancer to enrich themselves and make sure they can bankroll their grip on power. It's not hyperbole to say they are a direct threat to the long term heath of you and and your family. Getting rid of these programs will accelerate that threat. To be healthy we need to get rid of Republican rule instead.

Bold Lies

Washingon -- In a speech Wednesday, Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney attacked President Barack Obama's signature health care policy by falsely claiming that Obama "has taken a series of steps that end Medicare as we know it."

So anybody who hasn't been in a coma for the last 30 years knows Republicans hate medicare and want to kill it. But the American people love it and it really helps make America what it is. So Willard decided to just lie outright on the issue. Probably figures he can confuse seniors.

But the truth of the matter has been one of the most accepted tenants of modern political history. And the evidence is everywhere. The Ryan budget, which Willard enthusiastically supports, seeks to get rid of medicare and replace it with a voucher system that will end up costing seniors upwards of $6000 a year more than they pay now for Medicare. That's an undisputed fact. But if you have any further doubt that the GOP is out to kill Medicare, just Google: Gingrich Medicare "die on the vine." You'll get over 74,000 hits. And then you can read all day about just how long Republicans have been actively and unabashedly trying to axe Medicare.

And Willard deserves to go to Hell for lying about it. May he find himself in the middle of an angry mob of well informed seniors.

Teh Crazy

Raw Story: The liberal watchdog Media Matters on Tuesday pounced on a tweet sent by Fox News anchor Heather Childers, which linked to an article that claimed Obama’s 2008 campaign staff had threatened to kill Chelsea Clinton.

“Thoughts? Did Obama Campaign Threaten Chelsea Clinton’s Life 2 Keep Parents Silent?” Childers asked on Twitter, linking to the article in question.

Fox is just playing to their audience - the GOP base. This kind of garbage works because the GOP base is basically racist and insane. If you're not a psychopath and you're thinking of voting Republican in November, you may want to first consider the company you keep.

Fuck The Constitution

Think Progress: A bill passed by the Arizona legislature and now sitting on the desk of Arizona Governor Jan Brewer (R) would make it illegal to be annoying on the internet — at least in ways that are deemed “lewd” or “profane.” H.B 2549 has solicited outrage from free speech groups and Arizona bloggers alike, who rightly point out that the bill denies them their basic freedom of speech.

Seems the constitution no longer applies in Arizona. Previously the Republican party has attacked the fourth amendment, the fifth amendment, the eighth amendment, the 14th amendment, the 16th amendment, the 17th amendment, Article VI, the Civil Rights Act, the establishment clause, posse comitatus and due process. Now we can add the first amendment to the list of things they hate in the constitution. In fact, aside from the amendment that according to them gives every nut-job the right to own an assault rife, they pretty much hate the whole thing.
