Baby, It's Called Offshore DRILLING

Sarah Palin tweets: "Extreme Greenies:see now why we push"drill, baby, drill"of known reserves&promising finds in safe onshore places like ANWR? Now do you get it?"

Yeah we get it. You're a sociopath.

Palin's all about drill baby drill and everybody this side of high school knows Palin and team GOP want to do it everywhere, onshore and off. They would drill under their mothers' grave if there was oil. Fact is all the big oil companies Palin shills for drill on land and at sea and not only has she never uttered a word of opposition to offshore drilling, but she has specifically advocated for it. That she's now trying to imply otherwise makes her a horrible liar. That she's trying to blame this disaster on the people most against offshore drilling makes her a sociopath.

Victims?

"In a democracy, people get the government they deserve" - often attributed to Alexis de Toqueville

We're not sure the millions of Americans who will be affected by the Gulf oil disaster actually deserve what's happening to them. We are sure however that Republican public policy - their regulatory policy, their energy policy, their environmental policy and their corrupt relationship with big oil absolutely created the conditions that allowed this disaster to happen. Hopefully voters in those mostly red states will decide to cast their ballots for a better future.

Roaches

The leader of the "BUYcott" effort in support of the controversial Arizona immigration law said this over the weekend: "Let me tell you something, there’s gonna be procession down into the border South when you see a lot of illegal criminals knowing they are going to be compelled to be ID’d or thrown in jail, you’re gonna see them disappear back south like a bunch of cockroaches."

The more these people swear they're not racists the more their own words and actions, not to mention their history, show them to be exactly that.

It Compares To The Most Horrible Of Things

In a May 28 Washington Times column, Jeffrey Kuhner wrote of the job offer to Joe Sestack: "[t]he White House is facing a major scandal -- one that threatens to bring down President Obama. It could be his watergate"

We find it notable that Republicans continually attempt to tar Obama and the Democrats by comparing everything to various past Republican horrors. They have compared the Sestack job offer to Cheney's treason and now they want to make it into Nixon's Watergate. They compare their oil spill to Bush's Katrina and Reagan's October surprise. They bring up the history of their racist base to accuse Democrats of being racist. And since none of this logically implicates Democrats, these comparisons only serve to highlight the enduring historical significance of their own dangerous nature.

Rush Job

Shortly before the Deepwater Horizon exploded in the Gulf, the Republican controlled Florida House spent $200,000 for a study of oil drilling off Florida's coast. It concluded any spills would be rare, small and easily contained. The report by the Willis Group cost $200,000 because it was a “rush job,” according to Jill Chamberlin, spokeswoman for Florida House Speaker Larry Cretul.
So last month we learned Florida Republicans gave taxpayer money to their anti-gay gay cronies to further their state sanctioned discrimination of gays. This month it's reported they're giving taxpayer money to crony companies for the dishonest reports they need to drill baby drill. The cost of their corruption is about to skyrocket. Voters in Florida had best consider such things before they cast their next ballot.

The Obama Doctrine

The drawdown of U.S. forces in Iraq remains on track, and the military will meet the troop level benchmark laid out by President Obama, according to the Army Chief of Staff Gen George Casey. In an interview with CNN's John King Casey confirmed the military is slated to reduce troop levels to 50,000 by the end of August.

Republicans embrace the Bush Doctrine of getting us into devastating wars based on contrived threats. Since crap like that gets them kicked out of power, it then falls to the Democrats to get us out. Given that it may very well take Obama all 8 years to clean up this and their fiscal, economic, and environmental disasters, we're going to call this phenomenon the Obama Doctrine.

New Constitution, New Flag

Rex Nichols is one of dozens of candidates running under the Promise Keepers banner, an organization which believes the constitution to mean the local sheriff has authority over everybody, including the president of the United States. They're also enlisting law enforcement and military personnel to vow to refuse 10 orders they say are unconstitutional, from confiscating guns to warrantless searches. Nichols points to the 1993 standoff in Waco, Texas as an example of "injustices" that wouldn't happen in his county because he wouldn't let the federal agents in. "I am going to take my deputies and stand in the middle of the road and tell them to get the hell out," he said. "And if they want a war, they got it."

Yet another right-winger goes to bat for the serial child rapist David Koresh. This one comes with an open drive to recruit a shadow army and a threat to go to war against the United States. That this crowd didn't condemn warrantless searches or call for the president to be under the command of the local redneck sheriff while there was a white Republican in the oval office is telling. What they're doing about it now should be a warning on how dangerous the new Republican party has become.
