Owning The Vote

When he was on the campaign trail in 2012, Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) suggested that only property owners should be allowed to vote.

Yoho made the suggestion when he was running for Congress. The comments were flagged by Right Wing Watch on Tuesday.

"I’ve had some radical ideas about voting and it’s probably not a good time to tell them, but you used to have to be a property owner to vote," Yoho said at a speaking event at the Berean Baptist Church in Ocala, Florida. The crowd responded with applause.

Well, at least he didn’t say only slave owners should be able to vote.  But either way, this is just another giant pile of crap on top of the mountain of evidence that makes it disturbingly clear the Republican party simply can't stand democracy.  Therefore, it’s beyond dangerous to let them serve in one.

Responsibility

Raw Story: During a Sunday interview on Fox News, host Chris Wallace asked Cheney if Clinton “did anything wrong,” and if she should be “held responsible for the events surrounding that attack.”

Why, did she get a memo titled, “Bin Ladin determined to attack Benghazi?”  Did she preside over the worst terrorist attack in the history of the United States?  Did she lie and cheat to start a horribly costly and counter productive war in Iraq?  No, that was all Dick Cheney.

Actually, it’s the Republicans that cut funds for diplomatic security before the Benghazi attack.   If anybody should be held accountable it’s them.

As for Cheney, he should just shut his mouth and be thankful he’s not spending the rest of his life locked up in the Hague.

Projecting Force

FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) — A Republican businessman running for Arizona's 1st Congressional District says most mass shootings in the U.S. are committed by Democrats.

The Arizona Daily Star reports that Gary Kiehne made the remarks at a Republican primary debate Saturday in Florence.

Kiehne, a Springerville rancher, told the 60-member audience that "99 percent of (mass shootings) have been by Democrats pulling out their guns out and shooting people."

Sincerely, Tim McVeigh.

Ok, ok, he was bomber not a shooter, but that doesn’t change the fact the numbers show the biggest terrorist threat in this country isn’t pissed off granola chucking liberals or Muslims, it’s angry, white, gun loving, abortion hating Republican militia types.  Everybody knows this.

The Real Bedrock Principles

Although many Republicans are optimistic about their chances in this year’s elections, some of Washington’s leading conservatives gathered Thursday to privately vent frustrations about what kind of party they will be left with after November.

The group, alarmed by a resurgence of the GOP establishment in recent primaries and what activists view as a softened message, drafted demands to be shared with senior lawmakers calling on the party to “recommit” to bedrock principles.

Click on the link to read about how some in the base are concerned the Republican Party won’t be bigoted, homophobic, evangelical and anti-choice enough for them.  They are of course correct to be worried.  The party gives just enough lip service to that stuff to ensure the angry, white base is on board and voting for the transnational billionaire agenda.

The Secessionists

Lindsey Graham’s challenger in the South Carolina Republican primary gave a speech in the state Senate on Wednesday in which he likened the American Civil War to a domestic dispute that escalated to murder.

“This was a war,” he continued, in which “basically folks in the North decided that — kind of like a marriage, the South had decided it wanted to separate, and the North said, ‘We’re not going to separate, and if you want to separate, we're just going to kill you."

That's the way they see it in the confederate states of Republican Dumbfuckistan.

The civil war was about southern conservatives taking up arms against the United States in order to preserve slavery.   They obviously haven't gotten over it.

Pro-discrimination

Raw Story: Christian business owners should be able to discriminate against LGBT people and others if they believe the Bible tells them to, said Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

So Ted Cruz says lunch counters should be able to refuse to serve black people.  Ok, wait, sorry, that was Rand Paul, another darling of the GOP base.  But what Ted Cruz said is exactly the same thing.

Now that Apartheid has ended is there any place for these people to go?  They obviously don't feel comfortable here.

Racisms

TPM: Rubio Calls Crist's Comments On GOP Racims 'Ridiculous And Silly"

They are.  Well, except for that fact they're 100% correct.  And it's a slam dunk case.  Since Rubio apparently wants to talk about it, let's oblige him, shall we?  First the GOP deliberately built its base with racists. So there's that.  Any drive around the white GOP south will make it pretty clear the base prefers the confederate flag to the American flag, so there's that on top of that (Fargo reference).  And there isn't one single elected African American member of congress that's a Republican (and not too many more that voted for any of the white ones).  When you consider the mountains of evidence, it's ridiculous and silly not to conclude Crist is exactly right.  Democrats shouldn't be afraid to say so.
