Go To Hell

NORFOLK, Va. — Sarah Palin on Sunday painted President Barack Obama's administration as a cowering giant intent on surrendering the nation's mantle as a superpower and willing to sell out Israel.

Whatever. For 40 years the Republican party has been a haven for racists and bigots. They pimp Israel only to pander to US Jews and to radical Christians who want to keep it away from Muslims before Jesus returns and sends all the Jews to hell.

Small Government

Mississippi Haley Barbour has announced that oil has hit the shores of Mississippi. In a statement sent out late Sunday night, Mr. Barbour acknowledged that oil has begun washing up on the shore of Mississippi. “The amount of oil moving into Mississippi waters has greatly increased in the last several days,” and “We continue to press the Federal Unified Command and BP to increase the amount of resources available to attack the oil...."

Boss Hog needs to speak to his own party about that. Not only is his team currently doing all they can to prevent BP from being held accountable but for three decades Republicans have made it their mission to destroy any government agency capable of holding industry to account, much less clean up their messes. When taken with their constant efforts to defeat all regulatory and environmental laws, work against clean energy, and drill baby drill, it's painfully clear Barbour's political philosophy is responsible for this disaster. So unless he's ready to switch parties and beg forgiveness he really should just shut up.

Judgement

A federal judge sitting in Louisiana struck down the Obama Administration's six-month moratorium on new deep water drilling, despite the unfolding disaster in the Gulf of Mexico caused by BP's Deepwater Horizon drilling operation. Judge Martin Feldman, nominated for the federal bench by Ronald Reagan in 1983, has extensive investments in oil and gas, including in Transocean Limited, the company that owned the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig.

Republican big oil corruption doesn't end in congress or at the doorstep of Bobby Jindal and Haley Barbour's governor's mansions. Since ruining one ocean doesn't appear enough for those who profit financially and politically from selling out the country to big oil we suggest removing them from public office before they ruin another one. We confer the public trust upon such people at our peril.

Because One Financial Meltdown Wasn't Enough

The financial reform bill designed to prevent another economic blowout like the one seen in 2008 may die in a Republican filibuster after Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) announced he has serious reservations about it.

The GOP's fight to protect Wall Street robber barons ability to loot the financial system continues unabated. By it they threaten the retirement savings, job security, and standard of living of the American worker. If we don't correct the Republican deregulatory philosophy that led to the financial meltdown we're sure to suffer another one.

Wealty Investors, Corporations and Oil Companies

In a conference call with reporters yesterday, Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) said "it's very clear that the Republicans in the Senate want this economy to fail. They see that things are beginning to turn around.... We're gaining jobs, not as much as we need, but thing are beginning to move in the right direction.... In cynical political terms it doesn’t serve them in terms of their elections if things are beginning to turn around." She continued, "In addition to just taking a general position of 'no' to everything, they are protecting wealthy investors, corporations that are sending jobs overseas, and oil companies."

All of that's good, especially the last line. Aside from pandering to racists and lying and cheating to start horrific wars that bankrupt the country, that pretty much covers it. But it needs to be a unified Democratic message in order be successful. And time is short.

At Least She Didn't Call Them Cockroaches

Arizona GOP Governor Jan Brewer: We are a nation of laws. And they are coming across our border illegally. And the majority of them in my opinion and I think in the opinion of law enforcement is that they are not coming here to work. They are coming here and they’re bringing drugs. And they’re doing drop houses and they’re extorting people and they’re terrorizing the families. That is the truth, Matt. That is the truth.

Anytime you have to say "That is the truth" you know you're already on shaky ground. When you have to say it twice, you're most likely lying. Brewer is lying. Recently released FBI crime statistics show that despite an increase in illegal immigration, “Arizona is in the midst of a years-long decline in violent crime that pre-dates SB 1070.” Over a century of research shows that immigrants are actually less likely to commit crimes than their U.S.-born counter-parts. And when Tim Wadsworth, a professor of sociology at the University of Colorado, studied U.S. cities with more than 50,000 people he found that “the cities that experience the greatest growth in immigration were the same one that were experiencing the greatest declines in violent crime.” At least she didn't call them cockroaches.

Just Not Under Your Leadership

Yesterday Florida GOP Senate candidate Marco Rubio told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that he only wanted more deep-water drilling “if it can be done safely.” He then claimed that it’s “being done safely all over the world"

We're not sure that's true. We do note however that Rubio seems to be admitting that here, under the regulatory and environmental regime implemented by his party, it's not safe. And since they show no sign of reconsidering their philosophy, only a congress with less Republicans will be able to explore if there's indeed a way to drill and protect the environment.

Government Subsidized

David Jungerman, the Raytown farmer who posted a sign on a semi-truck trailer accusing Democrats of being the “Party of Parasites" has received more than $1 million in federal subsidies since 1995. But Jungerman says the payouts don’t contradict the sign he put up in a corn field in Bates County along U.S. 71 Highway. “That’s just my money coming back to me,” Jungerman, 72, said Monday. “I pay a lot in taxes. I’m not a parasite.”

Whatever. I pay a lot of taxes too. And I've not received one penny in government subsidies. On top of that, my taxes are going to pay for this guy to advertise that my political party is full of parasites. The reality of course, is it's the red states that need welfare from the federal government, no doubt due in part to people like Jungerman.

Rand Paul's GOP Rolls On

GOP state senator Randy Brogdon (OK), who is the “tea party favorite” in his race for the Republican nomination for governor in his state is not blaming BP but the government for the Gulf oil spill. Brogdon claims that government is “the problem” and that the spill is a “perfect example of why government should never be involved in the private sector

That would mean no labor laws, no environmental laws, no public safety regulations, no FDIC, and down with everything from restaurant inspections to the Civil Rights Act. As Think Progress notes should be asked about all these things and the rest of the Republicans should be asked if they agree with him.

Their Messaging

TPM: Earlier this month, North Carolina Tea Party Republican candidate Bill Randall suggested that the Gulf Oil leak might have been an inside job between the US government and BP, conspiring for some reason to fill the Gulf with oil. (After all, it's turned out so well for both parties. Why not?) Tonight he won his primary in North Carolina's 13th District.

Not what we would have thought a winning message... But then again, we assume our target audience is sane. This however is the GOP base. And not only do they have a tenuous grip on reality, but in the GOP it's the base that leads the party. Voters who are not crazy would do well to remember that in November.

Arrogant Or Uppity?

GOP Rep Trent Franks, in a quote buried in a Politico piece, appeared to say that Obama was ""arrogant" in demanding the $20 billion escrow fund from BP.

The people who run BP should be thanking their lucky stars they haven't been arrested. What's this clown talking about?

No Interest

In a campaign appearance last month, Nevada GOP Senate nominee Sharon Angle said she has no interest in bringing jobs to her state: "As your U.S. Senator, I’m not in the business of creating jobs. … People ask me, “What are you gonna do to develop jobs in your state?” Well that’s not my job as a U.S. Senator — to bring industry to this state."

That would be one reason why they're so bad at it. They don't even try. They will however offer corporate America tax breaks to send your job to India. Vote GOP - our job is to send your job to Punjab.

You Got Any Porn In There?

The new Texas Republican party platform would make gay marriage a felony and ban pornography and strip clubs.

A significant percentage of the Republican party would like to replace our democracy with a Christian theocracy. Although they say they're for less intrusive government their behavior suggests the opposite is true. We hope the people vote to keep the GOP out government because it appears that's going to be the only way to keep them out of everybody's bedroom.

No Right To Ban Slavery

In an op-ed titled “States Need Veto on Federal Power” MN GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Tom Emmer wrote: "I believe that our Legislature should have a voice in whether federal laws should be made to apply to Minnesotans."

Republicans have been making their displeasure with the constitution increasingly clear of late. This however is a direct frontal assault. Article VI of the constitution says that acts of congress “shall be the supreme law of the land" thus expressly establishing that states do not have a veto power over federal laws. Conservatives already made war on the United States once over the issue and lost. It seems however Sherman's march to the sea didn't do the trick. All Republicans should be made to go on record right now as to whether they stand with the constitution or against it.

What's Worse

"Governor, what's worse, the (drilling) moratorium or the effects of this spill on the region?" Meet the Press host David Gregory asked Mississippi Governor Haley Barbor (R) on Sunday. "Well, the moratorium," Barbour replied.

Boss Hog is the gift that keeps on giving. But the entire GOP power structure is in on this talking point. And since there's a $100 million fund for rig workers affected by the moratorium and it won't effect energy supply or pricing in any significant way, they can only mean it's worse for the big oil CEO's and their $88,000/minute bottom line. We haven't even stopped this drilling disaster much less figured out how to prevent the next one and they're already back to selling out the country.

No Honor For Union Soldiers

From The Texas Republican Party platform: We call for the restoration of the plaques honoring the Confederate widow's Pension Fund contribution that were removed from the Texas Supreme Court building.

The Confederacy went to war against the United States in order to keep slavery. That today's Republican party so consistently glorifies and honors that effort should give people pause. That so many of them seem to advocate doing it again should put them on the terrorist watch list.

Election? What Election?

Tea party forces are seizing on a new strategy in their attempt to remove Senate incumbents from elected office: the recall.

So we already know the Republican party doesn't like the the fourth amendment, the fifth amendment, the eighth amendment, the 13th amendment, the 14th amendment, the 16th amendment, the 17th amendment, Article VI, the Civil Rights Act, the establishment clause, posse comitatus or due process. And if anybody's forgotten the impeachment of President Clinton, this serves as a damn good reminder that they don't much like elections either. If the American people value their democracy they would do well to ensure Republicans win as few of them as possible.

More Of This Please

This morning White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel told ABC's Jake Tapper that Rep. Joe Barton's (R-TX) apology to BP was not a "gaffe" but a political "philosophy." He pointed to similar statements of support for BP from Rand Paul and the GOP leadership. "I think what Joe Barton did is remind the American people, in case they forgot, this is how Republicans would govern," he said..

We wont presume he got that from this blog. This isn't rocket science. But then again, what took him so long and when will the rest of the Democrats clue in and put forth an effective message?

Pray For Better Public Policy

(CNN) -- While cleanup crews and technical teams continue efforts to stop crude gushing into the Gulf of Mexico, Louisiana lawmakers are proposing a different approach: prayer

We suppose it couldn't hurt. But if they really want to help themselves they should advocate for clean energy, more regulation, and stronger environmental laws.

Yes Sir, Right Away Sir

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul on Friday urged Americans who have been unemployed for many months to consider returning to the workforce in less desirable jobs rather than continue relying on government unemployment assistance.

Translation: Tough shit we shipped the job you were trained for
to India to help our corporate cronies short term bottom line. And even though I'm not qualified for my own job, don't touch my paycheck. Now shut up and go flip my burger. And oh by the way, you'll get even less money for doing it because we're always fighting to lower the minimum wage. So just suck it up and try and support your family on $6.25 an hour. Sucker.

Bought And Paid For By Mother Nature

GOP Rep. Todd Tiahrt is a front runner in this years Kansas senate race. This week a Greenpeace spokesperson called Tiahrt “another example of someone who is obviously owned, bought and paid by the oil industry.” Tiahrt's response? “That’s rather odd coming from somebody who…is bought and paid by the environmental groups.”

Of course the Greenpeace spokesperson is paid by an environmental group. So by his response Tiahrt seems to confirm he's paid by big oil. The difference is Greenpeace paying their spokesperson is legal. Tiahrt taking bribe money from big oil is not. Further, that the GOP sees the environment as something to battle against is beyond dangerous. It's just this kind of philosophy that caused the gulf disaster in the first place. So it stands to reason that the more power Republicans gain the more environmental catastrophes we will suffer.

History Loves Reagan, Hates Reaganism

Campaign for America's Future (CAF): Reagan Revolution Home To Roost -- In Charts

It's history's judgment that voting Republican is like stabbing yourself in neck. That's what the last 30 year of evidence shows.

0 For 2

James Inhofe (R-OK) on the oil spill: "Remember the criticism George Bush got during Katrina? They said it was a lack of leadership. Let me tell you, that leadership looks pretty good right now."

No we won't let you tell us. The Bush administration and their GOP brethren in congress destroyed New Orleans
by defunding the levies and sending those responsible for their maintenance, the Army Corps of Engineers, to Iraq. And again, if Obama is at fault for the oil spill it's only because he should have known Inhofe and his drill baby drill, deregulate, baby, deregulate Republicans, would sell out the region to their big oil cronies.

On The Down Low

TPMDC: Sharron Angle Flees Local TV Station Questions

Right-wingers literally need to flee people asking them about their views in order to get elected. If it's not Fox News they wisely clam up and run. Seems making war on the United States and getting rid of social security are not popular positions.

If You Have To Say It

Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) insisted to the Pioneer Press. “I want to make sure everyone knows I’m not a shill for BP.”

The congresswoman doth protest too much.

Better Questions For Tony

In a hearing of the House Energy and Commerce Committee's subcommittee on oversight and investigations today BP CEO Tony Hayward came under questioning from members of congress.

How bad are the Republicans on the committee that Tony Hayward comes off as more reasonable than his GOP questioners? In the interest of discovering how something like this was allowed to happen we have some better questions for Mr. Hayward: Are you aware of a 2001 meeting between the BP CEO John Browne and Vice President Dick Cheney? Do you have any information that Cheney's secret energy meetings resulted in the Bush administration deciding the $500,000 switches that could have prevented this disaster were too much a burden on the industry? And so on...

BP's People

The Republican Study Committee, a group of conservative members of the House, released a statement yesterday calling the $20 billion BP escrow account a "Chicago Style Political Shakedown." Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) called it a redistribution of wealth, Haley Barbour is concerned it might cut into BP's profits, and Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) has has apologized to BP CEO Tony Hayward for the escrow account.

It was this kind of GOP sell out to big oil that caused this disaster in the first place. These Republicans may have been elected by the people but they're representing big oil.

Some Lawmakers

Wall Street Journal: Wall Street's lobbying army is is marching around Washington in a push to shape the final financial-overhaul bill. But it has gotten harder to get through the door with some lawmakers. One bank has complained that it no longer has access to House Financial Services Commitee Chairman Barney Frank.

By "some lawmakers" they mean Democrats. Republicans however, have embraced the lobbyists effort. During initial Senate consideration of the bill, House GOP members huddled” with over 100 lobbyists to “kill” the “financial reform bill.” House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) has even called upon bankers to “stand up for themselves” against those little punk stafferstrying to improve regulation. The robber barons are going all out to maintain their ability to loot the financial system and the GOP is standing with them. If the Republicans return to power in November we're sure to have another financial meltdown and this time we may not recover.

Pay The Bill Bitches

JOHN THUNE (R-ND) on war spending: "Republicans are increasingly, I think, dug in on the issue of making sure that new spending is offset. … Frankly, I think that there is even a growing consensus among Republicans that we need to start budgeting for this, we need to start figuring out how to pay for it. And I think that’s kind of the majority view among Republicans now."

Frankly, you've got to be kidding. For 8 years the GOP spent us into oblivion with their wars and kept it off the books. Only now that we have a Democrat as president do they find their fiscal religion and demand we pay the bill. We'll pay for it because it's the right thing to do, but the American people should make sure the people who ran up this massive tab in the first place are never in charge of the credit card again.

Civil War 2

Republican Rick Barber is running for Congress in Alabama's Second District. His new television ad -- which features images of pistols and calls for conservatives to "gather" their "armies" against the IRS -- is causing a stir.

The call to arms among angry conservative white people is getting more shrill. It seems Sherman's march to the sea didn't do the trick. This crowd already betrayed the United States once. Perhaps if we had dealt with them more harshly back then we would wouldn't have their philosophical descendants threatening us today.

Rape Of Appalacia

INTERVIEWER: What about mountaintop removal?

RAND PAUL: I think whoever owns the property can do with the property as they wish, and if the coal company buys it from a private property owner and they want to do it, fine. The other thing I think is that I think coal gets a bad name, because I think a lot of the land apparently is quite desirable once it’s been flattened out. As I came over here from Harlan, you’ve got quite a few hills. I don’t think anybody’s going to be missing a hill or two here and there.

And to hell with the ecosystem, anybody who lives downstream, the future, whatever... Far from a hill here and there, Mountain-top removal mining so devastates rural communities it has come to be known as the ‘rape of Appalachia.’ And pretty much all Republicans are for it. Paul however shows particular disregard for the environment and the communities this practice destroys. Somebody should buy the property next to his and turn it into a toxic waste dump.

Paying For It

Top Conservative: I'm all in favor of your green technologies just don't ask for the taxpayers to pay for it.

"...your" green technologies. See that? They want no part of it. Anyway, since us taxpayers currently pay with our oceans, our air, and our health, not to mention with hundreds of billions of dollars in tax breaks for the fossil fuel industry, basically this is what the Republicans are saying: our buddies, backers and business partners are into oil, coal and natural gas so we're going to transfer as much of the public good as we can to those industries while actively fighting against a clean energy future. And if we give your kid asthma or cancer, you had best be able to pay for treatment because we also hate national health care.

Small Government

Headline: Obama Warns Of 'Massive Layoffs Of Teachers, Police, And Firefighters'

Ok to sum up, in a conservative world we don't need to fund teachers, police, firefighters, trash pick up, street lights, or any regulatory agency that would keep an eye on big oil. We suppose they figure the rich can buy most of that stuff for themselves. But we do need to spend more public money on the military than every other country on earth combined. Americans vote Republican at their own peril.

One Nation United Under Oil

Yesterday, Chevron discovered a leaking pipeline that was spewing 50 gallons of crude oil per minute into Red Butte Creek in Salt Lake City, UT. By the time crews capped the leak, more than 21,000 gallons of oil had spilled out, "coating geese and ducks" and closing the city’s largest park.

So last week Sarah Palin had to lie and say she only meant drill baby drill on land. Perhaps this week she'll say she only meant drill on the moon. In fact, this country would be a lot better off if she and her fellow drill baby drill Republicans immediately departed to do exactly that.

Better To Just Get Rid Of Conservatives

Conservative Oklahoma State Senator Rex Duncan (R) is pushing for a ballot measure that would prohibit courts from considering international or sharia law when deciding cases. He says the measure is a "preemptive strike" against "liberal judges" who want to "undermine those founding principles" of America.

Ok, number one, fans of conservative sharia law have way more in common with American religious conservatives than they do with liberals. Two, the most conservative sharia law is practiced in Saudi Arabia, a country that US conservatives have been empowering for 40 years. And three, from overthrowing Mosedeh in 53 and replacing him with the brutal Shah, to funding and arming Bin Ladin's brethren in the 80's, to lying to invade Iraq in 2003, US conservatives are largely responsible for the problem of radical Islam in the first place.

Don't Need Streetlights

The city of Colorado Springs has long persisted as an ultra-conservative, anti-tax bastion. When voters rejected the latest proposal to raise taxes to maintain city services, the bottom fell out of the city budget. Now, hundreds of thousands of citizens are struggling without basic services.

Shorter conservatives: we need services (and we love war) but we don't want to pay for any of it.

Dumbfuckistan

The US states with the lowest percentage of college degree holders are Arkansas, West Virginia, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Alaska, Arizona, Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Kentucky and Georgia.

All red states. It's not a surprise. Study after study show the more educated people get the more they tend to vote Democratic. The University of Maryland did a study that showed Fox News viewers to be the most ill-informed among us. And of course, the GOP is constantly fighting to de-fund education. All extremely persuasive evidence that Republicans keep em dumb on purpose because their success depends on it.

Fired!

HOST: Well let me ask you this. If you were still the CEO at Hewlett Packard and the figures said you had to cut 10,000 jobs today, would you do it as a responsible CEO?
FIORINA:
Of course. And by the way, having managed HP through the worst technology recession in 25 years and nevertheless doubled the size of that company from $44 billion to $88 billion, I know what every responsible family and every responsible business in California knows.

Of course. Make it 20,000. Long as it makes the stockholders happy and I get my $21 million dollar payout. Send those jobs to India. Hell, as senator I'd even vote to give the company a tax break for doing it... Hey, if she did such a great job at HP why was she fired? And why did the stock jump 7% on the news?

Half True

IMUS: I don’t see how they ever — I don’t see how they ever return the gulf region to pre this gulf spill. Do you?

ISSA: Nah, I do.

IMUS: You do?

ISSA: I’ve made two trips to Alaska and you know our environment heals itself in time after you take most of the sludge away. But, having said that, I don’t see we ever return to trusting our government or the oil companies without real reform.

As it is Issa's Republican party energy policy, regulatory policy, environmental policy and big oil corruption that caused this disaster, his last sentence should have been 'I don't see we ever return to trusting Republican government' (sic). Democrats are in favor of clean energy, more regulation and stricter environmental laws. Issa's statement illustrates the classic truism that Republicans run on the premise government doesn't work - and then they get elected and prove it.

Bin Ladin Determined To Attack Deep Water Oil Rigs

U.S. government regulators warned in 2000 about the myriad problems that could be caused by a deepwater oil spill. But the Bush administration ignored such warnings and issued an executive order in May 2001 that pushed to speed up the search for oil.

And as we're all painfully aware, then they went on vacation. But the main point is that they just executed Republican party public policy. Therefore the results from the next Republican administration or congress would be just as bad.

Forget About Bush

In an interview on MSNBC this morning, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi mentioned that the root of the financial crisis lies in the policies of the Bush administration. So, reporter Chuck Todd asked whether voters would tire of hearing Pelosi and her party blame today's problems on the last president. "When do you feel like that runs out with the public?" Todd asked. "It runs out when the problems go away," Pelosi said.

The left is thrilled with this answer. The comeback is good but the original premise is horrible. Democrats better get this straight and quick. Bush was nothing. AND he's not running for anything. He was an empty vessel filled with standard Republican party public policy. Unless the Democrats want to be thrown out of power in November they had best start scaring people to death with what Republican party public will do to them. If the GOP takes over in November they will impeach Obama, gut the bill of rights, start bullshit wars, fill the oceans with oil, and let their robber baron cronies loot the financial system and crash the economy.

Gay Terrorists

The conservative non-profit American Family Association's Bryan Fischer declared in a Thursday blog headline: "Gay sex = domestic terrorism".

We give it two weeks before this guy is caught with a male prostitute. They're either trying to deflect away from their own gayness or their trying to trying to take attention away from the hyper-conservative groups that may actually turn out to be domestic terrorists.

Either Way

TPMDC's Brian Beutler asked House Minority Leader John Boehner if he backed Tom Donohue, President of the Chamber of Commerce, in saying taxpayers should help pick up the tab for the BP oil spill. Boehner responded: “I think the people responsible in the oil spill — BP and the federal government — should take full responsibility for what’s happening there.”

He's since walked that back saying he meant the federal government should take responsibility for the response. But this is an even a bigger indictment of his political party and its philosophy. The federal government has been hampered in its ability to respond due to 30 years of Republican assaults on any regulatory agency, rule or law that would have bolstered that capability or prevented the disaster in the first place. His party's energy, regulatory, and environmental policy caused this mess and is what's hampering the governments response. He is the responsible party.

Their Best Player

Lindsey Graham R-SC, at a press conference today: "The science about global warming has changed... I think the science is in question... I think they've oversold the stuff"

So all the scientists that aren't on Exxon Mobil's payroll say the global warming threat is real and human pollution is the cause. Now Lindsey Graham is calling them all frauds. Perhaps the most disturbing thing about this is he's by far the most reasonable Senate Republican on this issue. Take this as the latest warning that if Republicans have anything to do with it we'll be rushing ever faster into a soot-belching-earth cooking-oil spilling future.

Constant Refrain

In a Facebook post today, Sarah Palin promoted her record as governor of Alaska, claiming she made government regulation of oil drilling a “constant refrain"

Yeah, well, thing is sane people remember Palin's constant refrain to be "drill baby drill." On top of that, deregulation is a cornerstone of Republican public policy. This is especially true when it comes to big oil. Even people in Bangladesh know the GOP power structure has been one with big oil for decades. While notable for its brazenness, this kind of pathological behavior is nothing new to Sarah Palin or the rest of the GOP. What we want to know is how anybody buys this garbage and who casts their ballots with this crowd.

Supporting BP

A vast majority of Americans — 72 percent — now have a negative view of BP, a new Rasmussen poll found. However, 22 percent still have a somewhat or very favorable view of the foreign oil giant. EnviroKnow examined the crosstabs from the poll and found that this group of BP supporters is made up disproportionally of conservatives.

Somebody needs to poll on whether Americans have a favorable or negative view of conservatives for still loving BP.

Hate Democrats, Hate Democracy

Headline: GOP consultant in Arizona pulls strings to get Green Party on the ballot

Since the GOP is religiously anti-environment you know they're not supporting the Green Party based on their merits. It's just to pull votes away from the Democratic candidate, a strategy which if successful would result in a situation where a minority of voters elects the candidate with the opposite political philosophy from the majority. This is another GOP salvo in their long assault on democracy. From voter intimidation, purging eligible voters from the voter rolls, or restricting voting stations in Democratic districts to slightly less horrible schemes like phone jamming and planting fake candidates, Republicans have shown they're not prepared to let the people fairly elect their leaders. Fans of democracy would do well to keep them out of power.
