JOHN THUNE (R-ND) on war spending: "Republicans are increasingly, I think, dug in on the issue of making sure that new spending is offset. … Frankly, I think that there is even a growing consensus among Republicans that we need to start budgeting for this, we need to start figuring out how to pay for it. And I think that’s kind of the majority view among Republicans now."Frankly, you've got to be kidding. For 8 years the GOP spent us into oblivion with their wars and kept it off the books. Only now that we have a Democrat as president do they find their fiscal religion and demand we pay the bill. We'll pay for it because it's the right thing to do, but the American people should make sure the people who ran up this massive tab in the first place are never in charge of the credit card again.
