No Right To Ban Slavery

In an op-ed titled “States Need Veto on Federal Power” MN GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Tom Emmer wrote: "I believe that our Legislature should have a voice in whether federal laws should be made to apply to Minnesotans."

Republicans have been making their displeasure with the constitution increasingly clear of late. This however is a direct frontal assault. Article VI of the constitution says that acts of congress “shall be the supreme law of the land" thus expressly establishing that states do not have a veto power over federal laws. Conservatives already made war on the United States once over the issue and lost. It seems however Sherman's march to the sea didn't do the trick. All Republicans should be made to go on record right now as to whether they stand with the constitution or against it.
